The Archdiocese of Miami Welcomes Four New Priests
In a very emotional and special event, the ArchDiocese of Miami ordained 4 new priests on May 11th, 2024.
Our new priests include:

Matt Birk is a devout Catholic, husband, and father. Raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he attended Nativity of Our Lord school and parish, where he frequently served Mass as an altar boy. After graduating from Cretin-Derham Hall Catholic High School, he went on to Harvard University and after graduation, to the NFL. In 2011, Matt won the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award for excellence and leadership on and off the field.
In 2019 Matt co-founded Unity Catholic High School in Burnsville, Minnesota in an effort to provide a vigorously Catholic education to families in the south metro area. Matt is passionate about Catholic education because he feels it gave him the understanding that God has a purpose for his life.
Matt and his wife, Adrianna, along with their eight children, are active in the Pro-Life movement. The family resides outside of Saint Paul.

Fr. Larry Richards is a popular, captivating preacher, and a favorite speaker at Catholic men's conferences. He also serves as the pastor of St. Luke Catholic Church in Erie, Pennsylvania. Fr. Richards has been a high school chaplain, a counselor and an evangelist. He has directed hundreds of retreats and parish missions around the United States. His inspirational and challenging talks have changed the hearts, minds and lives of millions world wide.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Fr. Richards attended college at Gannon University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling in 1983. He continued his studies at the major seminary at St. Vincent in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and received his Masters of Divinity degree in 1987. He has completed his Master of Arts degree in Liturgy from the University Of Notre Dame.
Fr. Larry Richards was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Erie in 1989.
He is the founder of The Reason for Our Hope Foundation and the Spiritual Director of TEC (To Encounter Christ) Retreat Program for the Diocese of Erie.
